Hello! Welcome to the first Goodnight Moon Quilts Blog!
I'm Maureen and I've been sewing since my kids were young (quite a while ago). I've made kids cloths, Halloween costumes, Home Decor, etc. I was even enlisted to make costumes for plays and musicals when my daughter was in high school. That endeavor is not for the faint of heart, believe me. it was around that time I discovered machine quilting. It looked daunting but I was determined to see if I would enjoy making them. I bought a pre cut kit to start. The machine piecing was easy, the machine quilting, not so much. However, with practice I completed my very first quilt. Unfortunately, I don't have a photo, but I felt proud at what I had accomplished.
Several years and many quilts later a sweet Granddaughter came into my life. Oh what fun making quilts for her has become. They have been used for tummy time and cuddle time. That's when the idea came to me to take my hobby that I love and make it into a small business.
Hence, Goodnight Moon Quilts was created. Although the "quilts" are more like blankets, they are made from the softest cuddle fabric. I use material from Shannon Fabrics, as it is the softest and highest quality. That same material is used for the Bears and now Bunnies have been added to the line-up.
These items make perfect baby shower or new born gifts. Toddlers and kids love them as well. Since that first quilt I have graduated to a sewing/embroidery machine allowing blankets, bibs, and burp cloths to be customized.
That, in a "nutshell", is what Goodnight Moon Quilts is all about. Please look for us at the following Community Days and Craft Shows:
